Ethiopian emerald has been one of the major news stories in the gemstone world in 2017. Ethiopia has vast deposits of minerals and gemstones. If you wish to find out more about any of our products and services, please contact us.

Blue Nile Trading specialises in sourcing rough and polished emeralds (beryl) from the recently discovered mine deposit in Southern Ethiopia. Our team works closely with jewelry companies and collectors to provide high-quality, custom-made faceted emeralds.

The Ethiopian material is unique, with a medium grassy-green color and a hint of blue, which is comparable to emeralds found in the Chivor region of Colombia. Additionally, the material can be oiled using natural cedar oil and results in fine gems.
